Maxorin Side Effects: Safety, Drug Interactions and Who Should Avoid It

Written and reviewed by the Maxorin Editorial Desk · Last updated · 7 min read

Quick answerNo safety trial of the full formula has been published. Mild stomach upset is the most likely effect. The printed amounts, niacin 20 mg and zinc 11 mg, sit below NIH upper limits of 35 mg and 40 mg. Ask a doctor first if you take nitrates, blood pressure drugs or blood thinners. Not for under-18s. New erection problems deserve a doctor's visit.

Overview

What side effects can Maxorin cause?

Two Maxorin bottles, navy label with a silver M logo, Male Performance Support, 30 capsules
Each capsule holds niacin 20 mg, zinc 11 mg and a 570 mg blend. The two printed amounts can be checked against NIH limits; the six blend amounts cannot.

The most likely side effect is mild stomach upset, such as nausea or loose stools. Amino acids and plant extracts can do that in some people, especially on an empty stomach.

Most other effects linked to these ingredients show up at doses far larger than one capsule holds. Still, a few matter for men who take certain medicines.

No safety trial of the full Maxorin formula has been published. The notes below come from research on each ingredient.

At a glance

How likely is each side effect, and what should you do?

The table sums up each effect, the ingredient behind it and a first step. Rare but serious signs are at the bottom.

Likelihood is based on the ingredient sources linked on this page, not on a trial of Maxorin. No safety study of the full formula has been published.

Niacin

Will the niacin cause flushing?

It is unlikely. Each capsule has 20 mg of niacin. NIH notes that flushing, a warm, red, itchy feeling in the skin, usually starts at 30 to 50 mg or more (NIH ODS, Niacin).

The adult upper limit from supplements is 35 mg a day. One capsule stays below that. A sensitive person may still feel mild warmth, and taking the capsule with a meal can soften it.

If you already take a B-complex or a multivitamin, add the niacin together. Two products can push the total past 35 mg.

Zinc

Is the zinc dose safe?

Yes, on its own. Each capsule has 11 mg of zinc as zinc oxide, which is the full daily need for men (NIH ODS, Zinc).

The adult upper limit is 40 mg a day from all sources. Multivitamins, cold lozenges and some nasal sprays also contain zinc, and the totals add up quickly.

Read the labels of everything you take and keep the daily total under 40 mg. If you are unsure, bring all your bottles to a pharmacist.

Carnitine

Can L-carnitine cause stomach upset or body odor?

At large doses, yes. NIH reports that about 3 g of carnitine a day can cause nausea, diarrhea and a fishy body odor (NIH ODS, Carnitine).

Maxorin lists carnitine second in its blend, so it holds at most 285 mg, a small fraction of that. The effect is unlikely at this size. Stop if you notice it.

Interactions

Which medicines need a doctor's check first?

Three groups of medicines matter most. Each one links to a specific ingredient in the blend.

Nitrates

Nitroglycerin and similar heart drugs. L-citrulline feeds the nitric-oxide pathway, which also widens blood vessels. Combined effects on blood pressure are possible.

Blood pressure drugs

For the same reason, adding L-citrulline to blood pressure medicine could lower pressure further. Watch for dizziness.

Blood thinners

Pine bark extract may raise bleeding risk with drugs like warfarin (MSKCC, Pine Bark Extract). Ask before use and watch for bruising.

L-citrulline raises blood arginine, which the body uses to make nitric oxide (Schwedhelm et al., 2008). Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels. That is the same broad pathway that nitrates and some blood pressure drugs act on.

Also check with a pharmacist if you take prescription ED pills. Bring the bottle to the appointment so they can read the full label.

Botanicals

Are there side effects from saffron, maca or grape skin?

Side effects in the saffron trials were mild, based on a review of six small studies using 30 to 60 mg a day (Maleki-Saghooni et al., 2018). Saffron is listed last in the blend, so it holds at most 95 mg.

Maca was studied at 1.5 to 3 g a day for 12 weeks in healthy men (Gonzales et al., 2002). The blend can hold at most 142 mg. Grape skin extract is a source of polyphenols; the label does not say how much resveratrol it holds.

If you have a known allergy to any plant in the list, skip it. The full list is on the ingredients page.

Tainted products

Why do tainted products matter in this category?

Products sold as male enhancement supplements have a known problem. The FDA has found hidden sildenafil or tadalafil in many of them (FDA, sexual enhancement notifications).

In 2026 the FDA warned about one product sold as natural that contained both drugs (FDA, X10 notice, 2026). Hidden drugs like these can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level with nitrates.

We have no evidence that Maxorin contains any drug. But copies and resale stock can differ from the real product. Buy from the licensed seller and check the lot on the batch verify page.

Heart health

Why can erection problems be a heart warning?

New erection problems can be one of the first signs of heart or blood vessel disease. A review of 92,757 men found ED was linked to a 44% higher risk of heart events (Vlachopoulos et al., 2013).

NIDDK lists diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure among the leading causes of ED (NIDDK, causes of ED). A doctor can check for these with simple tests.

FAQ

Maxorin side effects FAQ

What are the most common Maxorin side effects?

Mild stomach upset, such as nausea or loose stools, is the most likely. Taking the capsule with a meal often helps.

Will the niacin in Maxorin cause flushing?

It is unlikely at 20 mg. NIH notes flushing usually starts at 30 to 50 mg or more, but a sensitive person may notice mild warmth.

Is the zinc in Maxorin too much?

No, 11 mg meets the daily need for men. The upper limit is 40 mg, so add up zinc from any multivitamin or cold lozenges you also take.

Can I take Maxorin with blood pressure medicine?

Ask your doctor first. L-citrulline feeds the nitric-oxide pathway that widens blood vessels, which could add to the effect of blood pressure drugs.

Can I take Maxorin with nitrates like nitroglycerin?

Do not start it without your doctor's okay. Nitrates and products that affect the nitric-oxide pathway can combine to lower blood pressure.

Is Maxorin safe with blood thinners?

Talk to your doctor first. Pine bark extract may raise bleeding risk when taken with blood thinners such as warfarin.

Does Maxorin contain hidden drugs?

We have no evidence it does. The FDA has found hidden drugs in many products in this category, so buy from the licensed seller and check your batch.

Who should not take Maxorin?

Anyone under 18 and pregnant or nursing women, per the label. Men on nitrates, blood thinners or blood pressure drugs should ask a doctor first.
